Wedding Portrait Shoot | Sofitel Darling Harbour

Wedding Portrait Shoot | Sofitel Darling Harbour

I had the pleasure of doing a wedding portrait photography shoot for S & A at the Sofitel Darling Harbour. S & A we’re already married in an overseas wedding. Now living in Australia they were keen on celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary with a re-creation of sorts with the backdrop of Sydney from this stunning location.

Sofitel Darling Harbour is an excellent choice.

The location is great, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. I had a lovely chat with one of the staff members while I was waiting in reception. I explained what I was doing here and I was made to feel very welcome. The hotel was buzzing as it was early on Saturday evening and the Darling Harbour location is a place with great locations, restaurants, and views of the city.

The room was beautiful and the view was fantastic. I think I would like to stay here myself one day. The location down below was buzzing with Saturday afternoon activity with Darling Harbour and Pyrmont really enjoying a resurgence of activity over the last decade.

The City View

S & A were dressed for the occasion. A’s dress was beautiful and made these portraits even more georgous. We discussed a number of ideas and shots for the session and made sure we used every aspect of the city view that we could. Amount many portrait images were also a variety of details shots of shoes, rings, hands and gown details.

Balancing the Light

As the day was still in early afternoon and very bright outside, I used several strobes and soft boxes to balance out the lighting between the couple and the city view. I am a keen natural light photographer for weddings and portrait shoots, however, I love using flash photography with softboxes and umbrellas as it allows me to control the light in ways to enhance portraits when natural light is not available or the best for a portrait.

Wedding Portrait Package Inclusions

The session lasted nearly 2 hours and from this the couple will receive a full set of high and low res colour images and a full set of classic black and white images. I like to provide a B&W set of images as I think B&W images have a timeless quality which quickly become favourites with many of my clients.

I am also preparing an album of images for S & A. they will be able to choose via a private online gallery, the images for their album and I will set to work to provide them with a proof copy to review before it goes to print.
