This is the most important thing couples want to know. How much and when do we pay?
Fine Photography offers a unique approach to wedding photography packages. We don't actually do 'packages' where everything is bundled in.
To simplify the process and add some level of transparency, Fine Photography approaches the wedding cost in two parts. It is more of a commercial photography approach where the client engages the photographer for the photographic work. The client then has the opportunity to view images and purchase individual images or the entire gallery.
Part 1 is the actual photography itself. Available are 4-hour ($695), 6-hour ($995) or 8-hour ($1295) photography coverage of your wedding. This is the only payment that needs to be made prior to your wedding day. It ensures you have booked a wedding photographer and it eliminates further major pre-paid costs required before your wedding.
Part 2 is after your wedding. Your wedding gallery will be available for you to view online and you have the option of purchasing the entire gallery (4 hour coverage - $695, 6 hour coverage $995, or 8 hours coverage - $1295) or individual images on a minimum buy structure. The minimum buy is $495 for 4 hour weddings and $995 for 8 hour weddings, with individual images at $45.
There is NO OBLIGATION to purchase a gallery or images. This removes the uncertainty you may have in regards to your wedding images and the pressure to pay large sums up-front before your wedding.
In saying this, most couples do purchase the entire gallery after they view it and are very happy with their wedding photography.
some important things to note. Online galleries are only available for 3 weeks after upload in which couples can decide to make their purchase. After this time, the gallery is removed. A weekly gallery re-open/extension fees applies for additional weeks ($295 per week).
I love candid captures of people. Weddings are a great way to capture people at their best. It is also nice to know I am sharing in someone elses special day and giving them memories which they can enjoy.
All weddings are great occasions, but I have to say that I prefer the smaller weddings. I like them because I can get to know your guests a little better and the result is images which really capture them and their enjoyment and celebration of your wedding.
Yes you can. There is an additional fee involved for this.
My goal is for you to be yourself, have fun, have a little time for romance and get the photos that are important to you.
In order to do this I try to help you relax. I do this by getting to know you before the day and letting you get to know me a little too so we can build trust. I find having that trust before the day makes all the difference.
I have never met a photographer who does not love to travel. I can travel and would be happy to do your destination wedding. If your wedding is rural, please ensure I have detailed directions, particularly if it involves country back roads. If it involes a gnarly dirt road prone to flooding, let me know - I may need a 4WD!
Yes. Engagement shoots are a great way to meet, get to know each other, and get to feel comfortable in front of the camera in a relaxed atmostphere. Contact for more information.
To secure your wedding date, a RETAINER payment is due at the time of booking. This initial payment secures the wedding date and removes it from the list of available dates. RETAINER payment is due at the time of signing the Wedding Photography Agreement.
Until the initial payment is received, your agreement is not valid and your wedding date will not be secured. The wedding date will remain available to other prospective clients.
You will receive a quote via email. Once you accepts your wedding photography package you will proceed through a questionnaire and then to the payment screen. A quote is only valid for 48 hours as I cannot hold your preferred date due to other enquiries coming in.
Once initial payment is received with a signed Wedding Photography Agreement, the wedding date will be removed from the list of available dates.
Weddings cancelled more than 12 months prior will receive a 50% refund of the initial payment amount. Valid cancellations within 6-12 months of the wedding date will receive 25% refund of the initial payment amount. Cancellations of less than 6 months do not recieve a refund of the initial payment amount. As I am booked at least 12 months in advance, I often have to forego other weddings as your date has been reserved.
Just like any other service, a contract will used used to cleary set out the terms of the agreement. A contract identifies the parties, scope of the work, payment, delivery methods, and limitations. A signed contract is required with the initial payment before your wedding date will be removed from the list of available dates for other prospective clients.
Typically, the 8-hours covers the bride pre-wedding through to reception to 8pm. This can be negotiated. The time will depend on your wedding schedule for the day. This can be worked out with me prior to your wedding.
I would have to be incapciated for this to happen. With my industry contacts I will make every effort to contract with a preferred photographer, or alternatively, provide you with a refund.
Bank transfer, cheque, cash, credit card.
Yes you can. I can meet of a weekday. Skype is also a preferrable method, partcularly for those couples who are extremely busy or live otuside of Sydney. This is a great option. That way, both of you can be present.
I can attend wedding rehearsals. These are a good way to get to know the family & friends, the officiant, the venue, the lighting. This can be added into your wedding package. Discuss this at your first meeting of via an enquiry.
The prices are fixed at the beginning of each year. So if your wedding is over one year away, you can lock in current prices if booked in full. If making a series of payments, then the wedding price will apply.
Yes. It is Public Liability Insurance.
Firstly, be aware of the time it can take to go to a sought after location in Sydney. Sydney Harbour foreshore and the like are very busy for wedding photography, particularly Saturday's. (Lets not mention the traffic).
However, on the day, some things may take more time than anticipated. If you plan on having the Bridal Party Shoot at a Sydney Harbour Trust location, there are additonal fees involved which are paid directly to the Harbour Trust. I will provide details necessary for payment if needed. Other locations may also need local council permits. I will advise you of these if necessary.
The wedding still goes ahead and so do I. We may need to think creatively about getting outdoor shots, but in general, the day still goes ahead as planned although there is the need to be flexible as to locations and timings.
We will do our best, but some things cannot be organised, and that is the weather. In some instances, bride and groom photos can be taken at a later date at the same or other locations to enhance the already captured images. There is no limit in terms of when you can do your wedding photos. On the day is best and most traditional, but thinking outside the box may present newer or more creative options without the pressure of the wedding day.
Yes. For small to medium sized weddings (100 people) 1 photographer is all you need.
Probably not. If you are in the region of 200+ people and you want everyone and eveything photographed, then 2 photographers would be better.
I am dressed as would be the wedding guests, albeit with comfortable shoes!
I use Canon DSLR, professional lenses, and lighting.
I have multiples of everything - camera bodies, batteries, flashes, tripods, filters, SD cards, mobile HDDS for backup.
Each card is backed up to several mobile backup devices throughout the day.
There is a shot list availble which outlines some of the typical shots for a wedding. These are to be used as guidelines to help ensure shots are covered. We will work through this at a pre-wedding meeting.
Yes. If I am covering the full reception. Please ask the venue to supply a 'service' or 'crew' meal at dinner time.
If on the day of the wedding you would like me to stay for additional hours beyond the scope of the wedding package, typically at the reception, then those hours are billed at an $450 per hour. This can be negotiated on the fly as it is depends on the situation.
For the typical 8-hour package, I will finish at 8pm (starting at midday, depends on your schedule) at the wedding reception. Additional hours can be negotiated on the day or prior to the wedding.
Things go wrong. Be flexible and just enjoy the day. As a courtesty, mobile phones are a great device for photos and your family and friends will want their own images too and I encourage it. I would ask that in the group shots and other key moments that you could organise someone who could be of assistance in coordinating the group shots, and when arms and elbows get in the way of doing your wedding photography. A small word here or there can go along way in getting the best images for your wedding day.
Destination Weddings
I sure do!
The normal package wedding fees apply in addition to fees to cover travel and accomodation costs.
Additional expenses may include the following: airfares, car hire (1-3 days), accomodation (1-2 nights location dependent), airport parking, transfer fees, vendor meals for the day of the event, per diem $50 for meals on travel and non-event days.
Generally, the wedding organisation is plenty for you to work with, so I like to organise my travel so it will fit in with my schedule and other pending events. For detention weddings I include a travel fee as part of the wedding Photography Contract Quote and this is inclusive of all travel and accommodation fees.
Your images are provided via a digital gallery download. You can choose to purchased the entire gallery or individual images on a tiered pricing structure.
4 hours galleries are $1295.
8 hours galleries are $2295.
The purchase of the digital gallery is IN ADDITION to the initial wedding photography coverage payment made when you placed your booking.
Fine Photography structures is Wedding Photography into two phases. 1 - actual wedding photography coverage, and 2 - purchase of images.
This is a commercial structure which gives clients the peace of mind in securing a wedding photographer at a competitive price, and the knowledge that they only have to purchase images they are completely happy with.
This also ensures there are minimal large up-front payments or payments-in-full prior to the wedding.
3-4 weeks for the online gallery.
There is some basic image editing such as colour correction, image sharpening, and tonal adjustment for overall image enhancment. The service does not include photoshop image manipulation (i.e.make me look thinnner or taller, or airbrush out my blemishes, remove people or objects).
No. Basic image editing such as colour correction, sharpening, white balance, and tonal adjustments. Further editing is not available.
Wedding albums are purchased in addition to the wedding package fee. See prices for details.
I will provide via the online gallery, an album for you to proof. It will contain the best images of the day. It will also contain several extra pages so you have some additional choices to add or swap out pages should you decide.
The Album is a 10 page flat lay (20 pages) with up to 4 images per page.
It is a high quality 14" x 11" Fine Art album. The album features 20 lay flat spreads, thick matte pages printed on art paper, a genuine black leather cover, a fine art wedding couple image on the front of the album, and an embossed couples name on the front of the album. The album is printed using archival inks and quality papers sourced from the United States. It is hand made right here in Australia and comes with a 30 year guarantee.
You will receive full resolution jpeg files of the day. They will be optimed for print and web, so two sizes are availble of each image. The images will be provided via a private online gallery (accessible for 1 month) after which when you have purchased your gallery or individual images, the gallery will be removed.
No. Some images are not worth having. Some are test or transitional shots. Often, multiple images are taken of the one event due to eye being closed, someone squints, someone is not looking at the camera, or the picture is just not right. Bad facial expressions are common, so I would prefer to leave these out.
You can download them, print them, post to social media, post to family and friends. Basically, this means personal use. Additional uses, such as advertsising for another vendor at your wedding is not allowed. If one of the other wedding vendors want to use an image, please put me in contact with them and we will negotiate the extended useage.
Fine Photography has a Social Media policy. Generally, up to 4 (four) images from your wedding will be posted to various social media wedding-related channels.
This is a marketing strategy. It also allows for your professionally shot wedding images to reach people - including friends and family - but also to ensure the best wedding images are shared to social media.
It is also a strategy to ensure against lesser quality images by guests at your wedding gaining all the traction. You want your images to look the best for family and friends, so this may help to circumvent this.
Adding to the previous question. To keep it simple, I retain the copyright on all images. You can use them for personal use, print, share etc, (you have those images forever) but the use does not extend to contracting image use out to other parties (or yourself) for promotional or advertising purposes, unless negotiated.
I will store them for 1 year. Couples should ensure they have a suitable backup system for their digital files received. Fine Photography will not store images beyond 1 year.
The online gallery will only be available for 1 month from which the client can make their gallery purchases and/or select items for print and albums.
No. In fact, RAW files look pretty average anyway. The file you see on a camera screen at the time the picture is taken is an in-camera enhanced jpeg - they look good. However, the RAW file loaded directly onto a computer does not. Therefore, image manipulation has to occur on all images and then converted to the jpeg format.
Couples can order Fien Art prints via the online gallery. These costs are in addition to the purchase of the full gallery of individual prints.
If you have ordered an Album, it will go to the Lab as soon as you have proofed them and decided on the final finish. The turn-around is usually 3-4 weeks.
Yes you can. Additionl prints are available via an Private Online Print Gallery. In this gallery, hand selected prints (the best of) from your wedding day will be made availble for you and your family and friends to purchase. The prints are ordered via a secure online shopping cart. Prints orders will take 2-4 weeks for delivery from order date.
Yes. Please contact for further information.
